And I am back. 😀
My last blog entry was 4 years ago. A lot of things happened and it was indeed a roller coaster ride. Anyway, I will slowly update you all about my experiences over those years.
But for today's entry, I would like to share a small achievement.
Over the last quarter of the year 2017, I saw a Facebook page about saving, investing, and other stuffs related to finance - Pesosense. As I back read all their posts, I realize that I need to start saving my hard-earned money.
I am a public school teacher by profession. My salary was just enough for me to have a decent life. I know in the future, if I decided to have a family on my own, what I am earning right now would not suffice. Yes I love teaching but I am not getting younger anymore. I need to be financially stable. Thus, I opened a savings account and got myself a life plan.
I also started to save some of my coins thru an alkansiya (coin jar). All my 5 and 10-peso coins will be put inside it.
This is made from a plastic cookie jar wrapped with packaging tape around the lid. I made a small insertion at the top using a sturdy cutter.

I was tempted to open my alkansiya a lot of times but my goal to save as much as I could for Graduate School prevailed (yehey!). I started last August 2017 and I hope that by the next enrollment, I have enough ipon for the summer semester.
Tonight March 2018, I decided to open my alkansiya and sorted them into 200s.
Sorted my coins into 200s. I have P3200 in all.

Tomorrow I will go to SM and have my coins changed on their Customer Service Counter because they have an ongoing campaign. For my 200 pesos worth of 5 peso coins they will give me an incentive of 4 pesos. Good deal 👍
3200 x 2% = 64 pesos incentives

3,200 pesos was not enough for my full tuition fee this coming semester but it would be of great help already. Konti nalang ang idadagdag 😅
